A sailor’s arrival at Misima

A 2019 sailing journal records a visit shaped by weather, friendship and supplies for the hospital.

On 27 July 2019, the crew of the yacht Maranatha published an update about their voyage from Bundaberg to Misima.

They described a passage with rough weather as well as pleasant sailing, followed by an arrival at Misima and the unloading of equipment for the hospital. Their journal then follows the onward journey to Rossel Island with local passengers.

A visitor’s view

Travel journals preserve the small details of a visit: who met whom, what a boat carried and how the weather shaped a journey. They are personal recollections of a particular time, rather than a current guide to transport, services or conditions.
