Ok Tedi announced an agreement signed on 19 June 2026 between Misima Minerals Limited and the Milne Bay Provincial Government. It provides for MML to operate the aerodrome under lease and coordinate runway and safety improvements to meet CASA requirements.

The announcement targeted completion before the end of 2026. It described use by small charter aircraft after regular airline operations were suspended in 2020. The agreement is a step towards restored commercial air access; it is not confirmation of a resumed airline timetable.
