NBC reported the award of a K2.6 million contract to Mickey’s Carrier Limited, facilitated by the Rural Airstrips Agency. Work was expected to begin in March, with completion anticipated by the end of 2026.
The report said runway deterioration had interrupted third-level airline services since August 2020. Meeting CASA runway standards was identified as one requirement for the return of regular commercial operations.
